The Filthy Thirteen were men of the 1st Demolition Section, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. The men trained as demolition experts in order to destroy enemy targets behind enemy lines. On D-Day their vital mission was to secure or destroy the bridges over the Douve River.
